Eye-Fi nets $20 million in funding exercise

I am quite sure that you have heard of Eye-Fi before, the manufacturers behind the first wireless memory card in the world, where the company has just announced that they managed to secure $20 million in the Series D round of funding which was led by NTT DoCoMo. Current investors Shasta Ventures, Opus Capital and TransLink Capital also participated in the exercise, and Eye-Fi CEO Yuval Koren also said, “Partnering with NTT DOCOMO is just one of several strategic steps we will take this year to showcase our enhanced customer experience and further expand Eye-Fi availability worldwide. Eye-Fi’s unique connected imaging solution is powered by our patented intellectual property and a rich ecosystem of camera makers, sharing sites, retailers and mobile operators. The result is millions of photos and videos being effortlessly shared from cameras and mobile devices each month.” The amount of dough would come in handy to expand Eye-Fi’s executive team, where the former Skype and eBay executive Michele Don Durbin will hop on board as Vice President of Marketing. What other groundbreaking products do you think Eye-Fi will release in the future?
