Many times you must have encountered error message from Windows while trying to move, rename, delete, copy or any other function with some files and folders, which is very annoying. Unfortunately, Windows even doesn’t provide any information about this problem and so you don’t have any idea about the issue and how to resolve it.
So to solve all these problems, today we are going to tell you about a tool named EMCO MoveOnBoot. EMCO MoveOnBoot is a freeware application and it can resolve any problems with locked or infected files and folders. All you need to do is to simply drag and drop error encountered files and folders in this tool, and then select the operation you want to perform i.e Move, Rename or Delete. This tool will then automatically execute that particular operation on next boot.

Next choose the action target i.e whether your target is a file or a folder. Then click on “…” on the Source and from here browse to location where your target file/folder exists.
Next you are required to give the path for destination. Put a tick on checkbox with name Override existing if you are giving same path and you want to save the new one only. You can see above that I have added three task in this tool and at the bottom it is showing the respective details of all the added tasks. Since I haven’t clicked on Restart Immediately option, So all these actions will get performed on my next reboot. On next reboot, that all these operations will be performed automatically.
The best part of this tool is that it doesn’t terminate processes that hold locks or make other destructive changes. Instead, it uses Windows mechanism to manage files at restart, when system services or applications can’t set locks, so this approach is safe and natural. The developer have also added number of skins in this tool.

In nutshell this tool will be useful in the following instances.
  • Update system files :- You cannot update system files directly, because in many cases they are locked by a system. But you can place updated file to another location and use EMCO MoveOnBoot to replace system file at restart.
  • Uninstall applications :- Sometimes you cannot uninstall applications completely, because some files or folders can be locked by other processes. Using EMCO MoveOnBoot you can schedule remained resources for deletion at the next restart.
  • Clean-up from viruses :- Very often viruses set locks for resources to prevent their deletion from a file system. EMCO MoveOnBoot helps you to delete locked files or folders to clean-up your system from viruses, if you know what resources are damaged.
The size of EMCO MoveOnBoot is 24.1 Mb and still it will not take much time to get installed and as usual it will create a desktop shortcut to access this freeware. This tool is compatible with all the versions of Windows and has been tested successfully on Windows 7 Ultimate-32 bit edition.
